The Tar River Amateur Radio Club was formed in 1989. The membership is generally based in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. There is a regular monthly dinner meeting the first Monday of each month at 7:00 PM at the Boddie-Noell offices on Noell Drive in Rocky Mount, NC. The club members support the activities of the ARES and SKYWARN. Field Day is one of the club's events. The club is affiliated with the ARRL.

Membership is open to any amateur radio operators. The annual dues are $15. Members receive a monthly newsletter. Each club member also gets free virtual club e-mail addresses.
