I was first licensed in 1957 as KN8GCC (see my WRL QSL card image), followed by WN8UUJ, and now since 1975, I have been licensed as WB8UUJ.

Because my home QTH in Michigan is an apartment, my Michigan on-air activity is frequently mobile or portable. For HF mobile I use an ICOM-706MKIIG to a HAMSTICK on my trunk lid, and for VHF/UHF mobile or portable, I do with whatever.

For fixed HF from my second-floor apartment I generally use another ICOM-706MKIIG at reduced power, to either an indoor 130' end-fed wire or to an indoor 20M N/S wire dipole. And please be advised that HF PSK31 from my apartment is becoming a sweet new adventure for me!

For fixed VHF/UHF activity from my apartment, I use either a ground-plane or a discone on my second floor wood balcony.

If you happen to work WB8UUJ as a "fixed" station, you certainly have "a rare one" :-), and you should QSL ASAP :-). But whether you work me fixed, or mobile, or portable, please QSL, either direct or via the BURO. I QSL (with a card) 100%, whatever the circumstances.

A "true love" of mine is radio-listening. My portal to amateur radio in the early 1950s was SWLing, and I continue to enjoy virtually any type of radio listening. I snoop into almost everything radio, be it long-wave, medium-wave, or short-wave. Of late I've been particularly intrigued with VLF and SW beacons, public service scanning, and SW aeronauticals.

I'm frequently on-the-air (HF-VHF-UHF) from South Florida during the North American winter. For QSLs related to my Florida on-air activity, my Flushing, MI address and the BURO are always good, although I may occasionally provide stations with an SASE to a direct Florida address.

I'm active with ARES/RACES, the Genesee County Radio Club, the Genesee County Amateur Radio Emergency Service, Inc., the Fort Myers Amateur Radio Club, and the Gulf Coast Area Repeater Club. I'm a member of the ARRL, the QCWA (#34728), QRP-ARCI (#4941), the Longwave Club of America, the Michigan QRP Club (M-165), the European PSK Club (#8018), the YLISSB (#15936), the South Coast ARS (#2881), the Michigan Antique Radio Club and INDEXA.
