I was first licensed in 1963 as WN4HHW and then as a General Class as WA4HHW. Obtained my Advanced in 1977 and Extra in 1978. Held the calls AA4VZ and currently AB4H. I obtained my First Class Radio Telephone Operator License (now GROL) in 1977. WE are sort of a "Ham" family. My Dad, W4JD (silent key) was first licensed in 1921. My son, KB3NFD was licensed in 2006. My son-in-law, KU4XP is also a Ham. I also have 2 nephews who have their Amateur License. I am a lifetime member of the ARRL. I am an ARRL Volunteer Instructor and hold a VE Certification through the ARRL & W5YI VEC programs. I am a past member of the Civil Air Patrol being a licensed pilot and was the Communications Officer for the Kingsport Composite Squadron and Assistant Communications Officer for Group 1 of the TN Wing. I also am an inactive member of Navy Mars, being a past Area Coordinator for the State of Tennessee. I am a retired Chemical Engineer and currently owner of Pilgrims Rare Books: http://www.pilgrimbooks.net DX is my thing in ham radio. I am currently on the DXCC Honor Roll having worked and confirmed 337 out of 341 countries and hope one day to get them all. CW is my favorite mode and I like to use RTTY and BPSK in contests.
