I entered the USAF in July 21, 1947, retiring on Nov 30,1967. I had one tour in Alaska, two in Germany, one in Norway, and one in Okinawa. In Alaska I was statione 30 miles SW of Point Barrow. Our therometer went to -61, we know it got that cold. While there in 1949 got my first ticket. KL7abh. At that time when you went to a different call area, you needed to get a new call sign, mine was W8PET. I then let my license lapse and didn't relicense until 1994. My entire Air Force career was in the communications service ,, hence my vanity call, AF8CS. AIR FORCE EIGHT COMMUNICATIONS SERVICE. Last modified: 2011-05-17 18:28:09, 664 bytes cached
