Thanks for taking the time to look me up! I’m guessing we made a contact and you’re checking to find out more about me. My name is Jim Studer (AK4I) and have been a ham since March of 2004. I was born in Northern Kentucky in 1951, moved to Tampa, Florida in 1974 with my new wife Liz (W4EWS) after graduation from college, and after 11 years in 1985 moved to Marietta, Georgia. I acquired the AK4I call in April of 2007. Prior to me it belonged to a ham in Fayetteville, Georgia so if you hear me call don’t automatically assume that we’ve worked before! I’m a civil engineer with an engineering firm in Kennesaw, Georgia. This year will mark Liz’s and my 38th anniversary and 27 years in Marietta. We hope to retire to property that we own on a mountain northwest of Chattanooga in about 6 years. (It’s a great spot for a DX station!) We've just completed building a 40 by 60 foot metal building and this year we'll be finishing an apartment in this building. I have two children: Eric, who is married to Ann Marie and live in Bellevue, Washington, and is a senior producer for a computer game company named Airtight in Redmond, Washington; and Mary who lives in Kennesaw, Georgia with her husband Chris, and their daughter Emma. Besides the humans, our house is populated with a Labrador Retriever named “CW” and a Dachshund named "Harley". I enjoy chasing DX and have worked 228 countries and confirmed 196 so if you get a QSL card from me I’d really appreciate it if you’d take a minute or two to send me one of yours back. I also participate in a number of phone, CW, and RTTY contests each year so maybe I’ll run into you there. I respond to all QSLs 100%. It may take me a while as I travel quite a bit related to work but I will respond. I’ll respond to direct QSLs; I’m good in the bureau; and I upload my log to Logbook of The World and eQSL on a periodic basis (Typically shortly after contests and sometimes in between). I’m current as of 19 February 2012). My previous calls were KI4EST and KI4ET. Contacts made with these calls are also uploaded. Good DXing and 73, Jim Studer Last modified: 2012-02-20 02:59:22, 2277 bytes cached
