I born on 1958 year and were licensed since july 1975, operating all modes and bands , unless my preffered mode of operation it is the CW. My profession it is electronic engineer, since 1980´s
I begin very young on radio, just building my first rig at 12 years old from a schematic published in a Hobby Magazine (Beginning to operate without license, because our local laws does not give call signs to people with less than 18 years old) , I put one old pentode Nr.42 used originally as audio output in an old receiver and the power supply was made with the transformer, capacitors and the 80 tube as rectifier picked up from the same old chassis. Still remember the first sparks on my fingers!!. I built a Hartley oscillator and get modulation putting a charcoal microphone between the antenna and chassis, Next I fill the roof of my father’s house with all copper magnet wire i have found but ... I can't get good results with my not resonant antenna, hi,hi. After a time I discover how to adjust the antenna lenght to 40m band. My first steps were disturbing locals QSO passing my crazy carrier over the freq and tuning to listen comments about the problem caused to receive, hi,hi. . Next i get my first QSO to 1000 Km distance on AM mode, Ohh! What a big emotion!!! After made a power amp with a 6DQ6 tube picked from an old B/W TV receiver and next learn CW.(Probably use that tube was the reason because all my neighbors began to watch me on TV-TVI,hi!). This opens my window to the world. My first CW DX were on 40m with VE3OY, His name Russ , really was one of the strongest emotion I have feel when he come back to my CQ. My emotion were reinforced many days after when I receive the QSL card, I remember me with a map and a rule scaling the distance and trying to imagine the waves path... The receiver was a very common 5-tube rec stolen from the kitchen, covering from 4Mhz to 11MHz, with a beat oscillator added. Lot of home brew rigs, some ssb transceivers, antennas and linear amps I have built from these times. On the 2000 year I decide to mount a station/laboratory on a farm, I get to buy a small (35 acres) farm located about 40 Km north from my Qth and begin to put up many towers, monobands ,rigs and linear amps. I carry also lot of instruments and books and complete a place where stay to study, work and enjoy the hobby. My family it is composed for my wife, Ana CX1AM and many dogs. She is a Medical Doctor and does not like so much to be on radio. Her father was an old cx ham(SK) and her husband it is a fanatic! My another hobby now is learning about farm activities, growing cows and some sheeps in the farm. My QSL card may be sent direct only, I do not use the local buro. Please enclose a S.A.E. and 2 GS or IRC (IRC are preferred because the GS are stolen into the mail service sometimes.) Thank you for to read my small history, enjoy dxing and contesting!!
