Hello from "BILL" KØAWU EN37ed, located in "The Lake Country of Northern Minnesota". I have been at this QTH, on the shores of Lake Pokegama, for almost 35 years. I am most active on 50mhz, 144mhz, 222mhz, 432mhz, 902mhz, 1296mhz and 10Ghz weak signal modes. VHF and UHF has been my main amateur interest for 52 years. I have VUCC on 6, 2 meters, 432Mhz and WAS on 6 meters.

As of Oct 06, 2008, I have 316 grids confirmed on 6 meters, 269 grids on 2 meters (48 States & 374grids worked), 62 grids and 23 states on 222, 67 grids and 15 states on 432. On 902 I have 7 grids confirmed. On 1296Mhz, 6 states and 23 grids are confirmed and on 10Ghz 6 states 18 grids are confirmed.

250 watts on 6 meters, 800 watts (8877) or Pair of 8560A's at 400 watts on 2, 250 watts on 222, 250 watts on 432, 40 watts on 902 and 20 watts on 1296. All amplifiers are Homebrew tube amps except for 902 and 10Ghz. On 10Ghz 1 watt portable with a 18" dish and a 10Ghz home station running 6+ watts to an 18" DSS dish at 50ft are on the air. I run mostly SSB,CW on the Vhf/Uhf bands and high speed meteor scatter on 6,2,222 and 432. The K1JT WSJT HSMS software has been a blast, with more than 1300 contacts on the 4 bands! As well as 234 2meter EME initials via K1JT's JT44 & JT65B digital mode.

If you catch me on the low bands, most likely it will be QRP on 40 or 80m CW. In Feb 2007, I built a SoftRock Ver6.1RxTx transceiver. This little guy is a low cost software defined rig and will operate all modes on 80&40m. In my configuration I am getting about 500mw output. It has been a blast. I've never operated HF QRP before (on purpose that is) and it has been tremendous fun, mostly on 40m around 7.040Mhz CW. http://www.geocities.com/en37ham/8040SR.html

In November 2007 I put together my modest 1950's Vintage station using gear of the same models I used back in my Novice and early General days. (Hammarlund, Hallicrafters and Viking gear). I hang around the QRP "watering holes" on 80 and 40m with this gear too. Lots of fun. Take a look ...http://www.geocities.com/patbilldavis/Vintage.html You might also find me on the 20m EME net on 14.345 from time to time.

Both my wife, Pat, and I are retired educators. We retired from the local school district in May 2000. I had taught Computer Science and Math for 26 years and Pat had worked as a Para-professional in Pre-School Special Ed for over 20 years.

Pat, and I share the interests of enjoying the lake and aviation. We enjoyed flying our Cessna 172 to visit family and friends and have flown to both coasts.

Hope to see you on the bands!
