Hello and thank you for stopping by. My interest in amateur radio started in
the early and mid-1970’s and was influenced by (1) an introduction to shortwave
radio at Marconi Beach on Cape Cod in Massachusetts, (2) listening to
broadcasts on my parent’s shortwave radio, and (3) an educational weekly column
in a local newspaper. I was then licensed in late 1977 as a Novice. Shortly
thereafter I upgraded to General, and subsequently operated from several areas
in the USA during my academic and ongoing industry career. I progressed to
Advanced and Amateur Extra Class in 1998, and have steadily upgraded my station
in the last several years.
I am primarily a 160-10 meter CW operator, but also work RTTY and SSB in major
contests. I additionally enjoy ragchewing. No matter the distance or the
duration, every QSO is an opportunity to experience the amazing magic of radio
and worldwide friendships.
I post all QSO’s to the ARRL (American Radio Relay League) Logbook of the World
(LOTW), and also am always delighted to send a QSL card direct or via the
bureau.
Thanks again and 73 – Jay.
