Ralph has been active almost continuously since he was licensed in 1962. He has been involved in many aspects of amateur radio; but his passions are DX’ing, contesting, and DX’peditions. He also enjoys growing his antenna farm.

He participated in the 1992 DX’peditions to South Sandwich and South Georgia, led the 1994 DX’pedition to Peter I, was a member of the 1995 XR0Y Easter Island team, was a co-leader of the VK0IR team, and returned to South Sandwich and South Georgia in 2002. Ralph was a co-leader of the 3Y0X DX'pedition to Peter I in 2006. He holds five DX’pedition of the Year Plaques and was recently inducted into the DX Hall of Fame.

Ralph has enjoyed introducing hams to the thrills of contesting and DX’ing. He is married with four children and is a diagnostic radiologist.
