Boy, it is hard to beleive I am now an old, old timer. I was first licensed in 1962 as WN9FCG/WA9FCG in Peoria, IL. I received my license while still in high school and I helped form the Richwoods High School club station, WA9HBX. I kept my Tech license until 1973 when I upgraded to Advanced class. That same year I became KA1BFK. I operated six meters from Central Maine during much of that period. In 1980 I moved to Beale AFB, California and continued to operate six meters. From 1982 to 1984 I was HL9SM in Taegu, Korea, where I operated mostly 10 and 15 meters. In 1984 I moved to Colorado Springs and recieved the call KD0SU. I mostly operated six and two meters SSB for the first few years I was here. In 1991 I upgraded to Extra and started operating HF CW. Kind of like going back to my Ham Radio roots. For the last couple of years it has been mostly HF QRP work. I still get on six meters, my favorite band. In 1997 vanity got the better of me and I recieved the call K0SU. Kind of nice to have on the air, especially CW! My younger son is Brian, KB0MFA, an Architectural Engineer, who graduated from the University of Colorado. He is now working as a software engineer for Google in Boulder, CO. My older son is an Electrical Engineer but he has had no interest in radio -- go figure. Well, his latest job has him traveling to Belize and asking about radio so maybe there is hope. I am still looking for Rhode Island on 6 for my WAS on that band. My latest activities have mostly been on HF PSK-31. I am looking for PSK-31 contacts on 10 meters. My 10-10 number is 63890. What a fun mode this is! Check out some of the sites on the web, download the software, and try it out yourself. Here in Colorado Springs I am very active in the Pikes Peak Radio Amateur Association. Take a look at www.ppraa.org to see what our club is up to. You can also look at my web site at http://www.qsl.net/k0su to see some of my other activities. 73, Rick Last modified: 2011-12-22 22:30:04, 2027 bytes cached
