August 27th & 28th, 2011my callsign was KØN, a special event callsign in the Kansas QSO Party in comemoration of the 150th anniversary of Kansas statehood. Thanks to all for the 1182 QSO's. This year on August 25th & 26th I will again be active in the Kansas QSO Party as KØN. Look for me on 160 through 10 Meters SSB and CW.
Originally licensed as KNØVXU in 1959 in Independence, MO, I have held KØVXU for over 50 years. As a young man I thoroughly enjoyed contesting and DXing but, over the years, have tried my hand at several other areas of amateur radio including rag chewing, handling written traffic, 2 meter VHF repeater operation, beacon operation on 10 meters, antenna experimentation, rig building, packet radio, RTTY, PSK31, SSTV, and other digital modes
My operation is pretty much evenly divided between CW and SSB, 160 meters thorugh10 meters. With the solar cycle on the upswing, (well, maybe) the antennas have been refurbished and shack straightened up in readiness for DXing and contesting. Hopefully, this won't be my last solar cycle. I QSL via Direct, LoTW, and e-QSL. and bureau, but I prefer LoTW

I will be working from Fripp Island South Carilina (IOTA NA-110) while on vacation from May 22 to June 2, 2012. Mostly cw running 20 watts from my SGC and a long wire. Qsl direct or LOTW
