(Formerly KB1NHD-Vanity call K1WTX on 7/27/07) After retiring from telecommunications and electronics after 25+ years, I finally decided it was time to get my ticket in March of 2006, thanks to the prodding of a few ham friends. I just wish I had done it years ago!

2m radios are a Kenwood TW 4000A 2m/440 used as a base unit, an Alinco DJ-180 ht and a Radio Shack HTX 212 in the mobile. An Icom 736 works into a homebrew dipole at 8 meters high on 160m and 75m and an 80m Radiowavz Windom at 11 meters high is used for working the other bands. A Kenwood TS-140s with matching tuner and power supply serves as backup. I've met some interesting people in a short time and I especially like the European and Asian dx contacts on 20m and 17m ( yes, 100 watts and a wire antenna CAN break through pileups, with a little patience!) I'm especially interested in homebrew antennas and also weather observing and reporting to the NWS as the local cooperative observer. I am a co-coordinator in the Maine Skywarn group and serve as a net control in the local 2m Skywarn training nets which nicely blends the two hobbies.

QSL via eQSLcc if you like. 73, Jerry, K1WTX
