I was bitten by the radio bug when I was around 8 years old. My dad built a crystal set for me, and it was love ever since. When I was 12, I started building my oun radio receivers, etching PC boards and really getting into the hobby. When I was in college, working on a degree in electronics, I visited the ham radio station, WB4GYT, all Collins equipment, and I never wanted anything more than to get a ham radio license. About 7 years later, in 1977, I got the General class, WD4MRS. 10 years later I upgraded to Advanced class, KK4KM, and 9 years later I upgraded to Extra, and through the vanity call sign system was given my K2CP call. This call sign was issued to a silent key Richard Segal. I have had QSO's with hams who knew Richard, and spoke very highly of him, so I am proud to have his call sign.
The picture shows me on the day I killed my first animal, a wild hog, one of thousands that are a real problem in the South East. My son took the picture. Later that day we both killed one more each. That is the only animal I don't have a problem hunting because they are so destructive, the local ranchers are more than happy to have us out there.
