I was first licensed in 1966 at age 12. The DX and contesting bug hit me early on and those interests have followed me for four decades.
My rig is an Icom IC-756 Pro 3 and an Alpha 87A auto-tune amp. My modest antenna farm includes dipoles for 80M, 40M and 20M. On 160M I use an Inverted L with 4 elevated, tuned radials. On receive I have a 450' beverage pointed on Europe.
My operating interests include chasing DX on the low bands, particularly weak signal work on 160M. I enjoy building antennas and station accessories, about the only thing we can build these days. It keeps me from being a complete appliance operator.
Some accopmlishments & affiliations: 5BDXCC, Honor Roll, WAC, WAS. Hold the CQWW US record for 20M, SOHP, CW set in '98. Army MARS, ORS, OPS, net control for the NJ Phone Net, NJ CW Net, 2RN and EAN. Beside contributing to good PR for our hobby, handling traffic improved my CW skills. It also allowed me to develop long term friendships with a great bunch of hams who eventually became world class contesters. Back in my college days I was the president and trustee of the Rutgers Univ. ARC, WA2NPP.
