A fairly new ham, I was licensed in April, 2009. My original callsign was KB3SOT, but after a few people misunderstood the suffix as "SOB", I decided a vanity call was in order. K3WOW not only is hard to misunderstand, but represents how I feel about the hobby: Wow! I can talk to someone 10,000 miles away with less power than a lightbulb! Other than ham radio, I spend quite a bit of time with my children. In the photo above, you can see my son and I playing around. Current Station: Yaesu FT-950 Elecraft K3 43 foot (13.1 meter) vertical antenna (tuned with MFJ remote auto tuner) 40m OCF dipole in my home attic (using the K3 internal tuner) Signalink USB (for digital modes) An Intel i3 based desktop PC (fixed/base) for running Ham Radio Deluxe, logging, and DM780. (VHF/UHF): Kenwood dual-band radio attached to a homeade "slim jim" antenna in my attic.
Local Clubs: Skyview Radio Society (http://www.skyviewradio.net/) Digital Clubs: PODXS 070 (#1085) (http://www.podxs070.com) EPC (#10992)
The slinky in my QSL card photo has a special place in my station: It was part of my first HF antenna - 4 slinky's arranged as a dipole in my attic. Not a great antenna, and it caused a huge amount of RFI problems, but it worked.
QSL INFORMATION: I QSL via any method I know of: LoTW, eQSL(AG), direct, and via the buro. As a fairly new ham, I still enjoy collecting (and sending) paper QSL cards. All paper QSL cards are responded to via the same method I get them. If you pay the postage to send me a card direct, I will pay the postage to send one back to you. No IRC's, SASE's, or greenstamps are required or desired.
