I first became interested in amateur radio as a boy scout. I took the novice class at the local amateur radio club here and was issued WN4RUR in 1976. I upgraded to advanced in '77 as WA4RUR. When I got in high school, I sort of lost interest in radio as guys that age tend to do. Then came college, starting a family and a business and there never seemed to be any time for radio. So here I am 30+ years later. I kept my advanced license current and practiced my CW when I had a chance. I studied the practice questions on QRZ for a couple of weeks and passed my extra on the first attempt in February '09. I then applied for and was issued K4BN. Currently, I mostly chase DX and am working on 5-band DXCC. I also enjoy contesting. I'm running a TS-590S with a AL-811H at about 600 watts from the corner of my garage. Antennas are inverted Vee for 80m, G5RV and 6BTV for 40-10, and a Hexx Beam for 20-10 meters. I've also got a TS-830S in the shack that I put on the air from time to time. I'm a broadcast television engineer during the week. My company designs, builds, and maintains digital television production facilities and equipment. We also do a ton of work related to athletic video, especially Florida State University. When I'm not on the air, I'm mountain biking, BBQ'ing, or working on some project in my workshop. If you're in the US and would like a paper QSL please include a SASE. I use the ARRL outgoing buro for DX. 73's Mike K4BN
