I first obtained the Technician Plus Amateur Radio License in the Summer of 1994. My first callsign was KE4MIA. In the spring of 1995, I obtained the General Class License. By mid-summer, I obtained the Advanced Class and then the Extra Class operating privileges by the end of Summer. My callsign was systematically changed to KS4KY when achieving the Advanced privileges, in which I opted not to change to an Extra callsign at that time. In 1998, the Vanity callsign program was instituted and the search for a one by two (rare) callsign was on. Being a CW enthusaist, I chose the callsign for which I still use today - K4HI. I only picked one and got it! Although it was hard, being a newly licensed ham, putting the microphone in the drawer for weeks until I became proficient on the key, it was well worth it! 20 wpm code was fun, but tough at first. It is like riding a bike, you never forget the code. I have a wife and a son that are Hams. Our family is from Columbia, SC and I am an alumni from the University of South Carolina and our family are Gamecocks all the way! Thank you for looking at my biography! Keep the code alive and practice proper radio etiquette. See you on the airwaves! Clark K4HI Last modified: 2011-01-22 00:26:11, 1313 bytes fetched
