Hello from the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, I was “raised” in radio and that is what I remember of the majority of my childhood. My father was the Chief Engineer for WSKY in Asheville and the chief op of W4CHX. My kindergarten was the transmitter site and studio of the radio station and watching my dad operate on 75 and 40 meters. At the age of 13, I became a novice and a trip to the local electronics and ham emporium was the highlight of any day for me. My broadcasting career started at WMIT as an announcer. That part of my life was temporarily put on hold in 1966 when Lyndon Johnson decided to draft me into the U.S. Army. When civilian life resumed, I returned to broadcasting with the majority of it at WWNC. I was not only involved in programming but passed my exam for a “first class ticket.” My experience ranged from program director to chief engineer. In 1983, I went to work for the Central Intelligence Agency and later the U.S. Information Agency. I have since put my college degree to work and now have a real job as a social worker at a shelter for the homeless. Thanks for dropping by. 73 and best DX Dave Last modified: 2011-01-22 01:23:42, 1175 bytes fetched
