William (Bill) E. Salge Sr.I have been amateur radio operator for 45 years and operates SSB exclusively. After 40 years of operating SSB I have now return to the AM mode. I can be found on 75 or 40 meters 3.880 or 3.885 and 7.290 or 7.295 Mhz almost every day. I will be operating with my Johnson Viking II and National NC-300 receiver on AM and my Heathkit SB-301, SB-401 on SSB.
I also use my Icom 746 driving a Heathkit SB-201 into a Dentron Tuner up to G5RV up about 65 ft. or a 5BTV Hustler vertical ground mounted.
I also can be found on 6 Meters when the band is open, running ICOM 706 MKIIG or ICOM 746 SSB with a SB-200 on 6 meter, to a 3 el. beam or a Hybrid-Quad or better known as Mini-Quad. I am builing a 572B amplifier for 160, 80 meter bands to use on AM only.
I'm now running the Heathkit Comanche MR-1 receiver and the Cheyenne MT-1 Transmitter as my radio in my computer room. I remove my Drake R4B and T-4XB from the room, the heathkits are putting a 105 watt carrier and about 300 watts with moduiation.
