I was first licensed (KN4SUE)at age 13 in January 1959. From June 1964 til
June 1967 I served in the Marine Corps. After boot camp at Parris Island, SC,
and infantry training at Camp Geiger, NC, I attended the US Naval Communication
Training School in Pensacola, FL, graduating in July 1965. I was then stationed
at Co D, Marine Support Bn, Torri Station Okinawa from August 1965 til August
1966 when I transferred to Detachment A, Sub Unit #1 1st Radio Battalion, RVN
until March 1967. Upon discharge, I attended Coyne American Institute in
Chicago, graduating in Sept 1969. From November of that year until my
retirement in May 2008, I was employed by the General Electric Company in
Salem, VA in Engineering, Marketing, Sales, and finally Senior Management.
Along the way, Sandra and I are proud to have raised two fine sons, Brian, 36
and Chris, 31. Brian lives with his wife and our first grandchild in the Boston
area. Chris and his wife live in N Charleston, SC.
Since retiring in May, Sandra and I divide our time between our homes in VA
(Roanoke County) and the South Carolina low country (Charleston County). When
in SC I am a volunteer at Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum aboard the
USS Yorktown. Stop by and say hello.
