I was first licensed as WA6CUC in Bakersfield California at the age of 15. My first rig was a 6AG7 oscillator and a Hallicrafters S20R receiver. It took a week to make my first contact by calling CQ and then tuning the entire novice band on 40 meters for an answer. I am a 1971 graduate of California State University in Business Administration and hold an MBA in Finance from the University of Texas at Arlington. After having tried most of the modes including ATV and remote bases on UHF and VHF, my final landing spot is HF CW. I have never had interest in contests or chasing DX. As a matter of fact I consider contests QRM and quickly run to the WARC bands with my tail between my legs. I also have a great disdain for digital modes encroaching on the allocated CW part of the band. When they take CW away, they can have my ticket. My sister is also a ham, K5PBN and we communicate frequently when she is at home in Granbury Texas and when she is traveling with her husband in their RV. I am now retired and live a half mile from Lake Texoma on the Texas / Oklahoma border. I love motorcycles, sailboats, bicycles, kayaks, radios, ....hmmmm maybe just toys. I am a devoted Ten Tec fan and at the present time own a Paragon, Scout, and Century 22. My QRP gear includes a K2 #696 and DSW20, DSW30 I also have vintage Heathkits and several homebrew tube transmitters. Are you bored yet?
