 2009

Celebrating 50 Yrs of Ham Radio

To commemorate 50 Years in Ham Radio,

 I have set a goal of making 25,000 QSO's

in 2009 and working more than 200 countries.

Please help me by calling whenever you hear me,

 Best 73, K5RQ

(Update as of May 31, 2009:  I have worked over 11,000

QSOs, 167 countries and all states.  I have changed my

QSO goal from 10,000 to 25,000 for 2009. Thanks to

everybody for your support, PLEASE keep calling.)

(Update as of Jan 1, 2010:  In 2009 I worked  26,122  QSOs in 234

countries.  I worked WAS on 4 bands and DXCC on 4 bands.

Thanks again for your help and support, I have uploaded all of my

2009 QSOs to LOTW and will QSL 100% to all QSL cards sent to me.)

(see Summary below)

Licensed since 1959. Previous calls were KN8PJY, K8PJY and W5QWF.

Present calls are K5RQ and ZF2DR.

US locations are:

Osprey, FL -             Sarasota County, Grid:  EL87

San Diego, CA -       San Diego County, Grid:  DM12

Also operate as ZF2DR from the Cayman Islands.

My station in Florida consists of a 3 El STEPPIR Yagi with 30M/40M driven element.  Antenna is on top of Condo building about 40 Meters high.  Rig is Icom 7800 with SS amp.  Operation is on 6M thru 40M; running max power of 500W on 40M, 150W on 30M and 800W on the other bands.  I enjoy contesting, DXing and general rag chewing.  I operate CW and Phone as well as some digital modes.  I have recently re-retired and I am operating as much Ham Radio as possible.

Also enjoy running and participate in several races each year.

I have been married since 1966 to Diana who enjoys me enjoying Ham Radio.
