Click for more detail... Visit my web site http://www.biztek.com/k6acj. I am active on HF Fixed and mobile, CW , SSB, digital modes including APRS, Olivia, PSK and MFSK. Active in ARES, Red Cross, and Huntington Beach RACES (HBRACES). For QRP and HFPack activities, a FT817, Elecraft KX1 and K5OOR HFPack Amp are used. Currently operating a SoftRock RXTX V6.3 Software Defined QRP rig on 40 meter CW and PSK. Old man having fun again. I call my /PM rig the Wood Box Radio, a modified CD storage cabinet from Ikea choke full of radio: FT-817, LDG QRP antenna tuner, the HFPacker 40 watt amplifier and batteries. The antenna is a Buddipole Dipole or L-Configured mast. Our favorite frequency is 18157.5 but now we include 60 meters and 80 meter CW. Four countries, Canada, Chile, Japan, and Mexico have been worked with this rig. Following my recent Elecraft KX1 adventures which I use for QRP contests and traveling in Spain I built a SoftRock RXTX V6.3 software defined radio and have it running with PowerSDR and DM780. What a Challange but it works fine and runs 10 watts output from a HFProjects amplifier. Lots of DX on both sides of the Atlantic with these rigs and simple antennas. Very nice!! When mobile-at-rest, I operate from a hill top over looking the Pacific Coast shore line with a view north west to Long Beach and Los Angeles Harbors. The Volkswagen Westfalia mobile station is an Icom 706MKIIG, an LDG AT-11 auto tuner. My web site describes the installation in the 1989 Volkswagen Westphalia camper van. Audio via Heil Sound, HS706 or HM-10 Dual element microphone. Thanks to everyone for 52 years of great QSOs. PSE QSL via eQSL, ARRL LOTW or direct. Member: American Red Cross Orange County Chapter, ARRL Affiliated Club Coordinator, Huntington Beach RACES, HFPack, California ARES. Interested in homebrewing or hill topping? Give me a call .....
