QSL VIA LOTW, BUREAU. I work THOUSANDS of stations per year contesting. I’d appreciate it if you can include an SAE or SUFFICIENT POSTAGE/IRC/or GREENSTAMPS if you wish to QSL.  LOTW is preferred. This info is also good for my former call WA6IKQ. All QSL’s 100%.

All Plumas County K6JS CQP logs have been uploaded to LOTW.

I worked for RCA and General Electric for 15 years as an electronic technician, specializing in audio and video circuitry. I made the transition to Information Technology around the time the San Francisco Forty Niners won their 5th Super bowl. Since that time,  I’ve enjoyed employment with Sonoma State University and currently with a nearby County government.

I was born and raised in San Rafael, Ca… a Marin County Native. I was first licensed at age 14 as WN6IKQ in 1974. I enjoy DXing and contesting, mainly CW, but will plug in the Mic once in awhile. I even work some CW DX while mobile. I am close to DXCC mobile.

My station consists of an ICOM IC-7700, which I won as the grand prize winner at the 2009 Visalia International DX convention. How sweet is that??!! Along side it is a Yaesu FT 1000 MP Mark V field and old SB200 amp. Antennas at the moment are a F-12 C3 at 50’ and a multi band trapped dipole. I also have a TS-570D at the cabin in Lake Tahoe.

I have an Icom IC-706MkIIg and a SCS PACTOR III modem in the truck with an AH-4 auto-tuner and a whip antenna. I used this mobile system in 2002 when I sailed a Cal 36 from San Francisco to Hawaii. The system worked flawlessly  across the Pacific Ocean. I loaded up the boats backstay and with the ocean as our counterpoise I enjoyed DXing, maritime mobile check-ins and Sailmail for the crew of 3. I was in my element:I was fishing, sailing, and I had my
ham radio! I didn’t realize the uplifting effect it had on the crew when I would yell, “Mail Call!”

Clubs

Treasurer and Contest Chairman for the Redwood Empire DX Association.

Northern California Contest Club – KB

ARRL

When I’m not DXing and contesting… I enjoy cycling, mountain biking, cooking, wine making, sailing, bass guitar, flyfishing and gardening.
