I was first licensed on May 7, 1953, at age 13, as KN6ASL and immediately upgraded to General Class. I upgraded to Extra Class operating only CW. I enjoy all of the Technical aspects of Amateur Radio including designing and building all my own High Power Linear Amplifiers. I am using a TS-940S driving the grid of a Russian GU-84B tetrode operating in Class AB1 on all HF bands(NO GROUNDED GRID USED IN MY DESIGNS). I also design and build Antennas which include long boom Quagi's and Yagi's for all HF bands from 40-10 meters including Dual-band, Tri-band arrays, and 160/80 shunt fed tower systems. Currently I am in the process of designing a 160 element EME Quagi array. I am also deigning the PA for the venture with a Russian GS23B tube in the PA. The Antennas in use are: 160M Shunt Fed 1/4 Wave Vertical, 10 Radials 80M Shunt Fed 3/8 Wave Vertical, 16 Radials 40/30M 3 el Quagi (Quad D.E. Parasitic Yagi Director and Reflector) 42' Boom 30M 2 el Shorty Yagi XM230 by Cushcraft, 15 ft. Boom. 20/15M 3 el Quagi (Quad D.E. Parasitic Yagi Director and Reflector) 27' Boom. (Shown in picture above) 17m 3 el Yagi 19' Boom. 12/10M 4 el Quagi (Quad D.E. Parasitic Directors and Reflector) 27' Boom I have DXCC, and WAZ on all bands, except 160, and enjoy the competition of ARRL and CQWW DX contests. I also enjoy Sprints, CW Sweepstakes, together with Field Day, although I do not have the stamina to stay awake for 24+ hours and the 10 hour contests are more to my liking these days. My previous calls were K6ASL 1953-1973, W3HXK 1973-1978, K3VA 1978-1983, KZ6E 1983-1996, K3VA 1996, K0VA 1996-2006 and now K6RZ October 2006 to present. I am an Electronic Design Engineer with a BSEE specializing in RF design, and have designed many receivers/transmitters/Power Amplifiers and antennas for both industrial and military use. Although I am older than most folks, my design prowess is keen and I really enjoy technical challenges. I am a Life Member of QCWA (12278), and other organizations. My other interests and hobbies include restoration of Mopar Muscle Cars, Drag Racing, and Bowling. I have 8 of the 61-79 Mopar Muscle Cars and a high powered 76 Plymouth Volare Door Slammer with a 440" Wedge Engine that I Drag Race often. It is raced on the 1/8 and 1/4 mile Drag Strips and will do a 6.50 sec 1/8 and a 10.4 sec 1/4. I also have a 200" 2005 Spitzer Front Engine Dragster that is almost completed and will do the 1/4 mile in 8.2 seconds at 185 mph. If anyone has any questions pertaining to the above, please contact me at anytime. My E-Mail again is hekoch@hotmail.com.
