NOTE: POSTAGE INCREASED 22 JAN 2012 (Posted 19 Oct 2011) TheU.S. Postal Service announced that it will increase postage rates on Jan. 22 (2012), including a 1-cent increase in the cost of first-class mail, to 45 cents. The Postal Regulatory Commission now has 45 days to verify that the new prices comply with the law limiting the increase to an average of 2.1 percent across all types of mail. They can then take effect. Because most stamps being issued are "Forever" stamps, they will remain good for first-class postage. But buying new Forever stamps will cost more when the prices go up. While the price for the first ounce of a first-class letter will rise to 45 cents, the cost for each additional ounce will remain at the current 20 cents. Other prices will also change including: —Postcards will go up 3 cents to 32 cents. —Letters to Canada and Mexico will increase a nickel to 85 cents. —Letters to other foreign countries will go up 7 cents to $1.05.
BUREAU STATUS: Last Card Shipment from Bureau - Received 26-MAR-2012. Next Estimated Card Shipment To Stations - 04-APR-2012. (Actual ) Status: 04 APR 2012- Notices mailed to those without envelopes. Last Mailing To Stations With Envelopes/Postage Credit - 04 APR 2012. Please let me know of any problems, postage due, etc. Most packs where verified by the Post Office and I want to be prepared the next time. NOTES: Please DO NOT plaster your envelopes with first class postage stamps. Postal regulations prohibit stuffing envelopes and sending them first class. Only put one or at most two stamps on any envelope and enclose extra postage as loose stamps when sending in envelopes. See my comments below about cash credit versus envelopes. Please put your call sign on anyemail or envelopes sent to myself or the bureau.Postal rates going up in January, 2012. If you have envelopes on file with the W8 Incoming Bureau, be sure to verify the postage on the envelopes or the postage credit that you have with the bureau. This can be done by sending me an email and I will respond with the information. If you want to send additional postage or, as I prefer, a postage credit of several dollars, it can be mailed to me directly at my QRZ address or sent to the W8 bureau address. I really prefer not having boxes of envelopes stored in the shack. If you are an active ham, please consider sending a cash amount to the bureau letter manager and let me handle the envelopes and postal amounts to maximize your mailings.
