I started my interest in Ham radio chasing DX. I got tired of waiting months for new countries and expeditions. I also did a lot of small time contesting which I still enjoy. I ran across the County Hunters net back about 1993 and found a very nice bunch of Hams. The nets were always active even at the bottom of the cycle. I was burned out of radio and put everything up for about 5 years. After 5 years I decided I would get a mobile rig for traveling. The first thing I came across with the new mobile was the County Hunters net on 14.336. Other County Hunter nets are on 7.188 SSB and CW on 7.056.5 -10.122.5 -14.056.5 and 18.091.5. I finished working and confirming all 3077 counties on February 27, 2006, mixed modes number 1134. I finished working all 3077 counties CW only on March 7, 2009 number 100. On April 24, 2010, I finished working all 3077 counties the second time for number 396. I also enjoy putting out counties on CW and SSB from the mobile when I travel. I have transmitted from 1980 unique counties to date, and hope to transmit from all 3077. I use a Elecraft K3 into a 5 band array of Hustlers on a 60 inch mast on the roof of a SUV when mobile. I use a Begali Traveler key for CW. My mobile inverter is a Cotek 300 watt 12v Pure Sine PN: S300-112. It has NO hash or noise to the radio or computer. I work for the State of Michigan in the Department of Corrections. I am also a member of the SISU Club Last modified: 2012-05-18 00:49:39, 1802 bytes cached
