I was first licensed in 1994 as KE6GLW in Berkeley, California and was a member of the UC Berkeley ARC (W6BB) and Northern Alameda County ARES/RACES. Current associations: Algonquin ARC of Marlborough, MA (http://www.qsl.net/n1em), Central Massachusetts ARA (CMARA: http://www.cmara.org), New England QRP Club (http://newenglandqrp.org/), QRP Amateur Radio Club International and ARRL.

Home station: Yaesu FT-857D with a homebuilt G5RV antenna up about 10.5 meters with E/W wire runs. An assortment of wire antennas will go up after I've finished moving around a couple badly located trees and driven a few more ground rods. AT Sprint III for CW QRP (http://kd1jv.qrpradio.com/ATS3A.HTM). An FT-101B & TenTec Century 21 are (seemingly forever to be) in the restoration queue.

The vanity callsign was chosen because it reflects both my organizational approach to using any flat surface as a horizontal filing system and a nostalgia for the 1960's TV show, 'Get Smart', a sitcom* about two opposing, Cold War, spy organizations: 'C.O.N.T.R.O.L' vs. 'K.A.O.S.'

*About TV comedies of that era... You may be familiar with the age-old question every American male eventually confronts at some time in their life and by so doing, reveals a fundamental aspect of their inner psyche: Who would you rather marry: Wilma Flintstone or Betty Rubble?, or perhaps the other classic comparison: Ginger, Mary Ann, or Mrs. Howell? But let's be real: The only legitimate answer is Agent 99**.

** OK, I'll admit Emma Peel runs a very close second, even allowing for the fact that 'The Avengers' wasn't a comedy.
