Born in Portland, Maine, I grew up in Sudbury, Massachusetts a small town located 20 miles west of Boston, Massachusetts. I attended the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Mass and majored in Sports Management. I have lived in seven states including: Maine, Mass. Pa. Maryland, Virginia, Georgia and Florida. We have moved up and down the east coast with one common thread. We have tried to live next to the ocean. I have had the great pleasure of living on three islands, including St. Simons Island, Sanibel Island, and Cape Cod. Our first home was next to Falmouth, Mass on Cape Cod.
I have had a long career working in Healthcare and have designed and developed two Medical Fitness centers. My job, relocated my family to Florida and we live only four miles west of beautiful Jacksonville Beach, Florida. This is a great location for DX and I enjoy working the world on 20 meters. At night I talk a great deal on 40 meters.
I currently operate a Yaesu FT- 1000D with a 125 foot Carolina Windom dipole that is is 45 feet off the ground. I also enjoy talking on my Kenwood TS-50 mobile and utilize Hustler/ super resonators. My youngest son Nathan passed his General license two years ago at the age of 16. He is a third generation amateur radio operator. My Dad introduced me to the joy of radio, when I was only 10 years old. He received his General license while enlisted in the Navy. He was an Electrical engineer for Raytheon Corporation before retiring after 25 years of service.
