I am a software engineer in the telecommunications industry. I am married and have three kids, two dogs, a cat and a gecko. My shack is in the cellar, which makes for cold operating in the winter. I have a Kenwood TS-830S HF transceiver, matched with a Kenwood VFO-230, an LDG AT-100Pro Autotuner, and a G5RV Junior hanging just barely over the shed. I also have an Alinco DR-135-MKII, which I am using mostly for APRS® at the moment, along with Xastir running on Fedora 11. In 2008 I picked up a Kenwood TH-D7(G) for ARES® and Skywarn activity.
At this time I am the ARES® Emergency Coordinator for Winsted, Connecticut, and a Public Information Officer for the ARRL Connecticut Section. I am also serving as president of the Wireless Operators of Winsted radio club, and I am a member of the CQ Radio Club in Torrington. I am a new member of the Straight Key Century Club, but I struggle with Morse Code. I am eager to improve my CW skills and get in on the action on the low ends of the bands.
