I am a Software Engineer by profession and a geek in my spare time. My hobbies, besides Ham radio, are electronics, robotics, camping, and fishing. Right now I just have my Technicians license, but I plan on eventually getting my General. I have two Kenwood TM-V7A dual-band mobiles one for the car and the other for a base and a Kenwood TH-F6A HT. Currently I'm having fun building antennas. I've aready built two 2-meter cubical quad beams, one is a 4-element fold-up design for the field, and the other is a 5-element fixed design for my base. I'm thinking of building some additional antennas including perhaps a 1.25-meter quad for the base station. I'd also like to play with some of the digital modes for control and telemetry for my robots. ATV could also be pretty cool for the robotics.
