Wow, after all these years I have now put a Vintage Station together! Having fun using the Heathkit DX60b and either the Heathkit HR10 receiver or a Hallicrafters S40a receiver Now also have a Hammerlund HQ110 that puts the HR10 to shame. At the present time I have a DX40 with VF-1 vfo on the bench working out some bugs. If I can get it working I will add a picture of it also. Added to the vintage collection now are a Globe Chief 90 along with a Globe VFO that I hope to have on the air for the winter 2011-12 season. Other projects in the works are the rebuilding of an Icom IC 735 that has numerous problems. Keys include the Kent SK, J-38 SK, Speedx SK, 1958 Vibroplex Original bug and a recently aquired 1942 Lionel J-36 bug.
NOTE: I SELDOM WORK SSB, PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK YOUR LOGS IF YOU ARE SENDING FOR QSL. Glad to be back on the air after 13 plus years of inactivity. Kind of funny, I got back on the air exactly 25 years from the date of my first CW contact as a Novice back in 1980 (December 26). Things really changed in Amateur Radio during that time span but they have been good changes. Rigs include an Icom IC746PRO, IC745, Heathkit HW 8 and an IC V8 for two meters. Antennas currently are an inverted L that is used for all bands but is the primary antenna for 160, and an 80 meter dipole at 40 feet fed with 450 ohm ladder line. In the summer months, the inverted L gets converted back into a 20 meters Extended Double Zepp at 50 feet. It is a truly amazing antenna that I highly recommend. CW is my favorite mode and I welcome the opportunity to rag chew any chance I get. I get a big thrill out of working new operators and encourage anyone interested in CW to give it a try. With the new regulations as of Feb. 23, 2007, I am looking forward to many contacts with new operators. I also enjoy the other digital modes now and then for a diversion. Since becoming active again, I have rediscovered my love for CW and QRP. Some of my operating since February 2006 has been with an HW 8 cranking out 2 watts or less and it has taught me a lot about patience. When we go on vacations or on weekend hunting outings in the fall it goes along! Upgraded to Extra Class on May 27, 2006 and on July 11, 2006 received the Vanity Call WI0S. Thanks for checking me out, hope to hear you on the bands. 73 de WI0S (Formerly KD0SF) Member of FISTS, SKCC, 10-10, NAQCC and would love to work anyone interested in exchanging numbers.
