I have been a ham radio operator since 1992. I am currently a general class operator. I am running an Icom 706MKIIG that I use primarily for digital hf. I am usually on the digital portions of 20 meters. When I am on VHF, I am usually on the AK4H repeater 147.270+. This is the repeater that the Johnston Amateur Radio Society, of which I am a member, calls home. I have been retired on disability since June 30, 2009. This was not by any choice of mine. I would have rather worked another 10 or 12 years. I spend my days at home with our two hounds, Jazz, a Sharpei/Lab mix and Remmington, a purebred Pomeranian. I have been recently appointed as the Johnston County EC. Johnston County haw been dormant for some time in ARES and I hope to turn that around soon. I am in the process of forming an ARES team because Johnston County is a major evacuation route for those at the coast. If you are interested in joining Johnston County ARES and have had or in the process of getting your NIMS training, we would be glad to have you. Just send me an e-mail at the e-mail address here. The link for the NIMS training is: http://training.fema.gov/IS/NIMS.asp I have a 40 ft. tower that currently holds a 2m/440 antenna, 6 meter antenna and HF vertical. My interests are HF phone & digital and vhf/uhf. I can usually be found on 147.270+ . When I am mobile, I am usually on 147.270+ Last modified: 2012-05-17 17:59:06, 1446 bytes cached
