Hi! I'm George, KE4VPD, between Plains and Ellaville, near Americus, Ga. I've been a ham only a short time, since Feb. 1995. I got interested in the magic of radio when my parents gave me a CB for my birthday in 1972 when I was 14. I've had radio gear around ever since! You'll hear me check in to numerous 75 meter HF nets around the southeast: the Ga Traffic & Emergency net, the Ga SSB Net, the Ga ARES net, and the Ga Cracker Net. I'm the Monday night NCS for the Ga Traffic and Emergency (G-Ten) Net on 3983, then I'm the Tuesday night NCS for the Ga SSB Association net on 3975. I'm the current president and net manager for the Association. Then it's ragchew time, usually on 3975. In the early mornings look for me on 3995 with the Ga Cracker Radio Club and I'll probably be found on 160 meters at night some in the winter. Seventeen and twenty meters are my best DX bands, but I'm not a big DX chaser. I'm ARES EC for Sumter County, Ga. and a NWS Skywarn Spotter Station. I'm secretary of the Americus Amateur Radio Association in Americus (k4far.org) ,and as "webdeputy" I try to keep that website interesting; check it out! My wife and I enjoy HF mobiling (she's a Ham, too... KF4TJR) and operating from the "field", and have a "suitcase" HF station, consisting of an older Icom 707, MFJ4125 power supply, LDG Z100 tuner, and a G5RV, that I use in field situations, emergency or pleasure. It takes about 20 minutes to be on the air with either a battery or a generator. Equipment at home is an Icom IC746PRO, with an ElectroVoice RE 20 studio microphone, through a W2IHY 8 band EQ, into dipoles for various bands. The Heathkit AM gear in the picture is a DX100 Transmitter, and a HR10 Receiver, then a HG10B VFO with a HW16 CW transceiver. Listen for that gear some afternoons on 3885 AM. See you on the radio! 73 George KE4VPD and Wylie
