As with many calls these day's, the numerical designation no longer means much.other than where you were when first getting the license and assuming you haven't renewed without changing it! Although I now live in FL, my call is from southwest Missouri and since I liked the call, I kept it :-) When I began in the hobby (as with many of us) cw was a requirement (I wish it still were) and learning it gave you a sense of accomplishment, it's not something you can memorize the answers to! I still enjoy cw very much and although it's no longer a requirement, there is still a lot of cw activity on the bands. Technology and interests change over periods of time, not always for the best, but they do change. I do enjoy PSK, but not like cw! Amateur radio is filled with all types of communication options and I'm sure most can find at least one of them to enjoy, several if they're lucky :-) I DO APPRECIATE QSL'S, I USE LoTW! I use it because I want the contacts to count for various awards and it's the only one the ARRL accepts. I am a member of both SKCC and FISTS, great cw organizations and a wonderful group of people! Enjoy the hobby and I hope to cu soon on the air!! Last modified: 2012-02-10 16:20:33, 1733 bytes fetched
