I am originally and PROUDLY from the GREAT state of Wyoming, city of Cody up by beautiful Yellowstone National Park. I have been in the Army for 18 years in the Field Artillery and am currently assigned to Ft Sill Oklahoma. In the free time I have, I operate a Kenwood TS-520(we were born the same year HiHi) that I cut my teeth on as a young teenager, as well as operated an old Heathkit HW-101 (no longer have). I got into the hobby by way of my dad, KB7CSV Earl "Pappy"Holder out of Cody Wy, and got my first ticket at 13 years old as KB7MXE. Later on I joined the Army and with all my travels to the far corners of the earth, I let my ticket expire and was off the air for a long time. Decided I was out long enough and missed way to much fun time so I re-tested so I could get back in the game and here I am and my license will NEVER expire again. I enjoy HF DX and local/DX 2m/70cm QSO using the IRLP/EchoLink. Want to get into the digital side and start learning that and operating there as well. I also like participating in SKYWARN, RACES and ARES activities. Learned allot about RACES from my dad when I was young. He served as a Net Control for years and passed on the knowledge. I like spending time in the mountains much the same as I did as a kid back home in Wyoming where I spent just about ALL my free time. Can't beat the freedom you get from the mountains. On the flip side the most amazing time that I can spend is with my 2 boys Chris and Brian, they are the reason my world revolves, I don't know what I would do without them!!!! They are the reason I do what I do and I couldn't do it without them and their support, they are my soul motivation!!!!!!!! And I also want to say that I truly appreciate the support of my sister JoDee (KB7CSX) and my dad Earl "Pappy" (KB7CSV). So that’s about it. Feel free to drop me a line my e-mail is above. Enjoy Ham Radio and Happy Hamming!!! I paper QSL 100%, I will do eQsl and and all the other stuff as well, but I believe in keeping the tradition of paper QSLing alive in our hobby. Enough of our hobby has changed and/or disappeared, just doing my part in keeping this part around!! I am also the QSL manager for the Viking Radio Club at Eisenhower Middle School here in Lawton. The student operators do a net almost every morning on 14.290 or 14.295 starting at 0830 Local time and are always looking for people to talk to, so stop on by, check in and have a QSO with one of the young operators here at the school. Our youngest operator is 12 years old and holds an Amateur Extra class licenseand remember folks, these are young and new/newer operators and some of them are studying to GET their licensesyou all are familiar with MIC FRIGHTso at times a little patience needed. Hope to hear you check in!!
