Hi! My name is TJ Harrell. I was born in Fort Myers, Florida. Currently, I'm in Syracuse, NY. I was first licensed as a No Code Tech in my early teens, and recently upgraded to get on the HF bands. I must say, I really appreciate the dropping of the code requirement, but I have a lot of respect for those who did pass it, and do use CW. I hope to become proficient in it myself in the future! My rig currently is a Kenwood TS-830S putting out 100W. I was fortunate to also find the matching SM-220 station monitor, and AT-230 antenna tuner, all checked and tuned by Ken Kemski, K4EAA. My antenna is a 100 ft long wire right into my tuner. I also have an HTX-212 Radio Shack 2m rig with a vertical antenna to chat on local repeaters. I taught myself electronic theory and enjoy tinkering with small electronic projects. I've built a small pulse width modulator to control a muffin fan's speed, a small Op-Amp based low-noise AF Mic amplifier, and a small AM radio receiver. I also have an HW-101 which I rebuilt into working order. I really enjoy tinkering with tube gear, as it is easy to work on, and easy to understand the operation of the circuits, unlike most modern equipment. I enjoy tinkering with computer hardware and software. I taught myself a little computer programming, and I'm very interested in digital modes, software defined radio, and internet based radio such as EchoLink. Growing up in Florida, I love sailing, and I have owned a Laser sailing dingy and an 18 ft. Hobie catamaran. I also enjoy quail hunting, skeet shooting, and target shooting pistols. I pride myself in being a jack of all trades, knowing a little bit about a wide range of things! I can make my own repairs on just about anything mechanical, structural, or electronic! 73, TJ Harrell KI4TJ Last modified: 2011-12-07 01:30:00, 1891 bytes fetched
