I lost interest in the late 60's and allowed my license to expire.

As a young ham I was fortunate enough to live in W1AW's backyard in Newington, CT. and received a lot of my training and experience from the volunteers and operators there. Some of my earliest memories of amateur radio include shopping for surplus on Hudson St. in NYC. You could buy an entire receiver or transmitter for $5!
