WD9HTC from 1/03/1978 thru 2/05/1997 Greetings! Thanks for the QSO, whether it was a quick contest QSO, or a ragchew. I enjoy most parts of the hobby. Under the urging of my Dad, AD9P ( ex-WD0DET & WD9GID), I was licensed in 1978, as WD9HTC, while living in central Wisconsin, and kept that call until 1997, when I recieved KI9A. I attended the 1978 W9SM Field Day, and watched Reno, W9NA ( SK ) operate smooth, and fastthen got bit by the contest bug. It hasn't left yet! My home station is small, but enjoyable. The rig is an ICOM 756 PRO3, and an ICOM 746PRO, the amp is a Heath SB-1000 that my Dad built in 1989-and still goes strong, and various 2 meter gear. I also have the Drake TR4CW station, my Dad & I shared when I was a novice int he late 1970's. Neat to see the tubes glow! Antennas are Cushcraft A3 tribander @25', Cushcraft 5 ele monobander @ 30' for 6 meters, 135' long, open wire fed dipole @ 45', a Radioworks 40 meter SuperLoop @ 30', and a GAP Voyager for the low bands. For now, I squeeze this station for all its worth! I am active in most contests, operating either from home, the great station at my friend Sam-K9SD, my friend Steve-WE9A's place, or, our club station - K0LIR, the St, Louis ARC. I QSL 100%, cards recieved via the buro get answered every other month, direct with SASE are answered usually the same day. Cards with no return postage are answered, but, I wait until I get a pile of them, then drop them off at the post office. I have an account at eQSL, but I think the integrity of that site is questionable at best, and never update it. I found Way too many E.Qsl's I recieved, that I never worked. I do, however, upload LOTW at least every month, and sometimes the day the contest ends. I encourage you to try LOTW, it isn't that hard, and, works FB! 73 & Thanks for looking!
