I am a new General class Ham and received my Technician and General license in Nov 2007.

I purchased my first rig in April 2008 and am now running:

Icom IC 7000

LDG AT 7000 auto tuner

Icom AH-710 1.9-30MHz folded dipole

I am mainly interested in DX contacts and am looking forward to trying to get DXCC and WAS certificates in the future.

I work in the Aleutian Islands in the summer and am going to try my rig from Adak Island where my summer office is and possibly from other Aleutian Islands (many of which have not had a ham on them before). I spend most of the summer on a research ship traveling the Aleutians and might someday try maritime mobile operation.

My Elmer is KL1YY and he loaned me my first radio and is a great source of interest and knowledge.
