I am Luis E. De Jesus, operator of ARS KP4ED, 66 years old, and married to Cynthia Nitza Aponte. Father of three boys and grandfather of four more boys and one grand-daughter. I was born and still live in Bayamón, Puerto Rico, about 7 miles SW from San Juan, the capital city.

I thank God I chose Ham Radio as my hobby when I was approximately 17 years. This helped me develop my interest on technical matters which later led me to complete my BS degree on Engineering. Approximately fifteen years ago I suffered a brain stroke which affected my skills to operate on CW but again, I thank God the new technology allowed me to operate digital CW using the keyboard, regardless my handicap to operate hand keys after the brain stroke. Certainly Ham Radio still motivates me to see the world in a very positive and challenging way as always has been!

Although I now operate mostly on the digi modes, I am able to do some CW and phone and enjoy my retirement mostly active on Ham Radio related activities. I am working to complete my 5 Band DXCC and enjoy sharing my experiences with hams who also have suffered my trauma. Keep enjoying the bands!
