Click for more detail... I was first licensed in 1991 as KC6RIX having passed his Novice, Tech, and CW test is one sitting (the NOCODE license came out 6 months later). My first interest was in Packet Radio which lead me to active membership in the Southern California Digital Communications Council where I served as Administrative Director. I also joined the La Habra Radio Patrol as a volunteer acting in stealth as extra "eyes and ears" for the La Habra Police Department, attaining the position of Vice President. Prior to becoming an Amateur, I acted as Chief Operator for Navy MARS station NNN0NTI at Naval Station Long Beach. I am a former Navy MARS operator, callsign NNN0AAP. Club interests included the Sunset Group in Southern California and the Western Amateur Radio Association (WARA) whose repeater resides on 145.400- in Fullerton, CA. I am the past President of WARA and have held the positions of, "Member-at-Large", "Vice President", and "President" for the club. As an avid Field Day participant, I helped revitalized WARA's Field Day effort (N6ME) in 1997 finishing in the top 5 for 4A, and continue to be active as Field Day Chairman. In 2004, WARA again took 1st place in their class (6A) and placed 9th OVERALL in the Nation. I also held the position of Chairman for the Orange County Council of Amateur Radio Organizations (OCCARO) until December, 2005. I held this office for 2 years. I have contacted both the Space Shuttle and the ISS via radio. I have also participated in general upkeep of multiple repeaters in California and Colorado and do tower/antenna work for local Amateurs. My MENTORS were/are KA6HYK and W6KAT. While active on HF with MARS operations and general rag chewing on 80 through 70cm, I got bit hard at the 2005 DX Convention in Visalia! This is a convention NOT to be missed!
