I graduated from the Army Armored Radio School at Fort Knox in December 1961.
Left the military in 1962 and married a refrigeration man’s daughter. Retooled
and started doing Heat, Air, and Commercial Refrigeration Service in 1963.
About 1979 I took and passed the Novice Class Exam. So busy with my own
business, Ham Radio was put on hold. At the end of 2000 I retired. My son got
me interested in radio again in 2003. I passed Tech. Test in 2003, and two
months later passed General Class. Got Vanity Call in 2003. For the next almost
4 years, had to put radio on hold again because I need to take care of my wife
who was having bad medical problems. She is a two time cancer survivor. Wife is
doing much better now, so I had time to study for Extra Class and passed that
in September of 2007. I currently have a weather station operational, and
accessible via APRS and the computer. No pictures of shack, it is not safe, no
one allowed in unless they can prove they have had all their shots. Not bad for
an Old, Mentally Challenged, Redneck, Barefooted, Country Boy, from Kentucky,
born in 1938. 73’s Ky4ken
