I was born in upstate NY, near Albany and was raised on a family run dairy farm. I have lived in Florida since 1978, so I guess that pretty much makes me a Floridian. I was in South Florida when we got hit with the hurricanes and lost all communciations. That feeling of not be able to contact anyone is scary. I was introduced into the hobby a little over a year ago and found it very exciting. I look forward to joining ARES so I can be of assistance, as I am a Registered Nurse. I find it very exciting and stimulating to learn about people who live in other areas. I received my General Class Ticket in March of 2008 and I am currently working on my Extra. I enjoy working 20 meter mobile with an Icom 718 and a Lakeview Hamstick. Special Thanks to my "Best Friend" Joe, WX4ADX for his encouragement and many hours of mentoring, as well as allowing me to participate in QSO as 3rd Party Traffic on his station with his cherished collection of Heil Broadcast Microphones. 7 3 DE KY4LND Jean PS. For those of you who are curious as to the meaning of my callsign, lets just say that I am a Labor And Delivery Nurse (I have been for 30 years) and we all have our own "tools of the trade", so to speak. Additionally, I look forward to purchasing a piece of land oneday in Kentucky. Love That Bluegrass! Last modified: 2011-01-22 04:12:59, 1385 bytes fetched
