Well, my friends, it is SpringTime in the Rockies;  this is when an old geezer's thoughts turn to 75m mobile.  Sure, I like other bands, but this is the one that offers the challenge for me.

The antenna pictured here can't possibly work, but it does.  The bottom section is mounted on a spare tire mount intended for use on trailers and is about 2' in length.  Also mounted is an AH-4 coupler/tuner for Icom radios with a 2" high tension wire connecting the two.  The 2' mast passes through the roof of the shell and is very sturdy.  You can see the rest of the story in the pictures.

The whole idea of this configuration was to provide myself with a short, short antenna that can be used in Arvada, CO where the city fathers plant trees, and where the branches hang over the streets, and the bobtail trucks do the trimming!

Anyway, the radio is an Icom 706MKIIG, which I believe was a Major Crowning Achievement for the Icom People.  It's really the good natured Operator  with a real good base station that makes my day/night possible.  Thanks to all and 73
