Hello, I go by the name Fred, my first name John. I was first licensed in 1986 as KA0YTN with a novice exam by Stan, WB0OEE at the McDonnell Douglas ARC in St. Louis, Missouri. I began the upgrade path with an excellent Tech/General class taught by Eric, NF0Q (SK). With the help of Gare, K0UUH and others I got my extra class license WQ0Z in 1989 at a St. Charles ARC VEC session headed by Ron, KO0Z. In 1998 I opted for the vanity call N3FP (no one can say WQ0Z even one time fast!). I have also operated as 7J2AAH from Nagoya, Japan in 1989 and as N3FP/I5 from Porciano, Italy in Tuscany in 2008. The photo above is my shack atop the Castle Porciano. I now live in Atlanta, Georgia near Emory University. DX, contesting, field day expeditions, and antenna construction are among my radio related interests. I have recently built and installed a large HF horizontal loop fed with open line in some of my 100 foot plus trees overlooking Peavine Creek. I am a member of the ARRL, 10-10 International, AMSAT, and several Atlanta area clubs. I'm a 1983 electrical engineering graduate of Georgia Tech and an IEEE member. Currently I work as a software developer specializing in Microsoft technologies. Last modified: 2011-01-22 02:40:35, 1281 bytes cached
