The RCARC is a not-for-profit Amateur Radio Club serving Rockingham County, NC and other surrounding areas. The club is a member of the American Radio Relay League. It participates in Field Day and provides public service communications for local organizations upon request. The club participates in and encourages all aspects of Amateur Radio including license classes and exams to help people get started in this wonderful hobby.

Club Meetings

Club meetings are held the 3rd Tuesday each month at the American Red Cross at 7 pm. The Red Cross is located at 3692 NC Hwy 14 Reidsville, NC 27320.

The club's monthly meetings feature presentations on a wide variety of topics. Speakers are chosen from the many community resources available to us as well as from the club's membership. We hope you'll plan on attending a meeting if you live in the area or will be just visiting for a few days.

Repeater Systems

The Club has two 2 meter repeaters that are usually active. One is146.850, which is located on a tower near the intersection of NC 14 and Harrisons Crossroads. The other, 147.345, is on the WGBT 94.5 radio tower located at 466 Lowe Road in Madison, NC. The repeater antenna is at approximately 900'. Both machines use the tone 103.5 for access.

APRS Digipeter

The Club also has an APRS Digipeter located on Berrymore Road near Eden, NC. This machine filled an area that needed coverage in Rockingham County, NC. Many thanks to the Rockingham County Repeater Association for sharing space on their tower with us.

Club Net

The Club net is held weekly on 146.850 at 8:30pm on Monday nights. The first section of the net is Formal with the RCARC news and announcements. After the Formal, there is a Ragchew session for each person to make general comments. If there is a problem with the 146.850 machine then the net will be held on the 147.345 machine. Please make plans to join us when you can.

Social Activities

For the early risers, breakfast at The Sanitary Cafe at 223 Piedmont Street in Reidsville on each Thursday morning. Everyone starts to gather around 7am and orders by 7:30am.

Also, for those who work and can not make the Thursday breakfast gatherings there is now a social on the Third Saturday morning of each month at The Sirloin House in Eden at 8am. They have a great buffet there so please come out and join us then if you can.

Club Annual Picnic

The Club's annual picnic which was a stew was a big successlast year at Lake Lamar. Please check back for more details next year for our 2012 picnic, probably in the Fall of the year.

Field Day 2012

The Club's annual Field Day will be held this year at The Red Cross.The Red Cross is located at 3692 NC Hwy 14 Reidsville, NC 27320. The Club ended up being in the Top 5 in the state of NC in our class last year. This event is open to all amateurs and non-amateurs alike so please make plans to attend. The dates are June 23rd and 24th, 2012. Setup will start around 8 am Saturday morning and will go on the air at 2 pm.

VE Testing

VE Testing is held on the last Saturday of each odd numbered month at the Eden Library in Eden, NC. Registration begins at 9 am with testing starting at 9:30 am.Please see www.rcarc.com for more information. The next Testing Session will be May 26th, 2012.
