I go by my middle name, Kemp. When contesting or putting my name in at a restaurant, I sometimes go by Ken - it's just easier that way. The first place I drove alone after getting my driver's license was to take my Amateur Radio license exam. I was 16 and it was the summer of 1995 in Washington, NC. From 1997-2001 I was active at W4ATC, the club station of the Student Amateur Radio Society at NC State University in Raleigh, NC. From 2001-2009 I was inactive. I am now 31 and living in Winter Haven, Florida, USA with my wife and young daughter. I am a lawyer by day. By night (besides ham radio) I play bass guitar and upright bass especially and most often for community theater shows. I have also toyed with other hobbies through the years, such as camping/hiking, astronomy, dinghy sailing, swimming, and linux. My HF station consists of a Ten Tec Century 21 (CW only, up to maybe 50 Watts on 80, 40, 20, 15, and 10). My antennas are: 80m: A lopsided dipole-like contraption. It also tunes up on 40. 40m/20m/10m: A Par EndFedz 40/20/10 in an inverted L configuration (max 25 watts) QSL direct (no SASE or green stamps required), LOTW, or eQSL.
