First licensed in 1965 at the age of 15 with novice call sign WN4WWC. Upgraded to General class with call sign WB4CQJ and eventually upgraded to Extra class with call sign N4KS. Also held call sign WB6VWF while living in California. Favorite mode of operation is QSK CW using a Logikit CMOS-4/Bencher BY-1 paddle combo. Rig is a Yaesu FT-950 with DMU-2000. I live on a very small lot, so the antenna is limited to a center-fed zepp inverted-V, cut for 40-meters, 30-feet high with 600-ohm ladder feedline to a Johnson KW Matchbox tuner. A Collins 30L-1 amp is used in SSB mode. I also operate maritime mobile as I sail around the world with XYL Katie on our Ted Hood designed Bristol 32. Besides ham radio and sailing, my other passion is riding my 2006 Harley Davidson XL1200R motorcycle.
