Hi!

Thanks for looking me up.

If you have one of my qsl cards, thanks for the QSO. The photo was taken on my birthday, 2010, from the 17th Street Causeway bridge, at the viewing platform on the east side of the movable span.

The unique thing about this card is that my qth is at the location at the exact center of the photograph, in the green neighborhood below the pointed Bank of America building in our skyline.

Ham Radio Bio:

I've been licensed since 1969, as a Novice with the callsign WN4PPI. I lived in Haywood Valley, between Summerville and Rome, Georgia.

We had a cow farm and I had plenty of antenna space and worked the world, first with a Heathkit DX-100 transmitter and a BC348 receiver with antennas made from electric fence wire, surplus coax and twin lead. I had two crystals as a novice for 80 meters and 40 meters - crystal control was required for transmit freqency control!  My Elmers were W4EOR(sk, call now held by his son Barry), W4ONA (now K0HT), WB4OPG (now KX4R), WB4AEG and WB4HNM.

I later passed the General and Advanced license exams as WB4PPI and kept that call until 1981 when I asked for a sequential assignment and received KC4ZU.

In 1982, on a dare by WB4MNF, I took and passed the Extra exam at the Atlanta hamfest. In 1996 when Vanity licensing reopened, I asked for N4MB (and several other calls), but alas, it was awarded to the prior owner and I was awarded another choice, N0MB, which I kept for 13 years.

In December 2009, I applied for N4MB the first day it was available - as did 13 other people and a club. I was awarded the call as the result of the FCC selection process on January 5, 2010.

For those of you wondering about the selection process, I simply got lucky. I haven't beenout there competing for different 1x2 callsigns - this is my first application since N0MB.

And, hopefully, it will be the last. I have no plans to apply for another call sign.

If we've known one another over the years, send me an email. I'd like to hear from you.

Mickey, N4MB
